Help us create awareness and prevent violence against women in the province by wearing a purple ribbon and encouraging others to wear one starting on November 25, the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women, through December 6, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
To start the campaign Eastern Region Committee Against Violence will be dropping of magnets and pins, along with purple cupcakes for your coffee break in honor of women who have been abused or who have lost their lives to a violent situation.
Throughout the region schools will be participating in paint your pinky purple in support of the Respect Women Campaign.
There will be a Purple Christmas Tree at Sobeys in clarenville and in other communities in honor of the 14 women who were murdered at l'Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, and women in our own province who have lost their lives to a violent situation.
